Inspiration! Connecting Music and Art
The Inspiration! Connecting Music and Art educational program demonstrated the links between art, words, and music, with selections like Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy-Overture, Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite, and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Students from each district are given the opportunity to submit their own artwork and poetry in response to two of the works on the program, which are displayed during the orchestra’s performance in school.
“I wanted to personally congratulate you and the members of the Pennsylvania Philharmonic on the excellent assembly you provided to our Bethlehem Area School District 4th grade students last week. I had the opportunity to invite the members of our middle school band, orchestra and jazz ensemble to the assembly as well. They were amazed with what they heard. Many of my students said they hoped to play in an ensemble such as yours when they get older.
