Stories and Legends

Engaging with regional students and demonstrating how music tells stories.

In this concert, students will hear examples of how composers have used musical elements to articulate the who, where, and what of stories.  They will then have the opportunity to demonstrate understanding of these concepts by responding to and interacting with (both individually and collectively) a story that they and members of the orchestra create together.

“That was the best concert I’ve ever heard. I was so surprised how good everyone sounded together. I loved it! It was awesome!”
“I liked how the conductor came out in the rows and asked us questions. We made funny stories with the music. I hope I get to go again next year.”
“My favorite part was how good everyone sounded together. It was so loud. I want to play the flute now!”
“It was fun how we wrapped the music into a story. I like how upbeat and exciting it was. This was my first concert and I loved it!”
